Pretty purple and butterflies

Wedding cake to resemble a Martha Stewart creation. The top and bottom tier are vanilla cake with strawberry filling and purple vanilla buttercream icing. The middle tier was devoted to the groom and is chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and purple white chocolate buttercream icing.

8 inch and 6 inch round yellow layer cakes with chocolate buttercream filling and icing. Green, white, and orange colored chocolates in little bite sizes adorned the top tier and larger panels completed the bottom tier. Chocolate buttercream stars were piped in between the chocolate pieces to give the cake some depth, and rosettes completed the base of each cake. Three silk sunflowers and some silk leaves top it all off. I think it turned out pretty cute, and very "contemporary" in style.

The cake colors matched the invitation that was sent out for the party.

Coconut and....coffee?

Champagne colored coconut cake with crushed almond filling and almond flavored buttercream icing. The scrollwork was done in a red that matched the bridesmaid dresses of the wedding party.
The base of each tier was completed with a row of dark chocolate covered coffee beans to reflect the couple's love for coffee. The "bride and groom" wedding cake topper was a pair of pugs to show love to the couple's pugs at home.

Crazy Daisies!

Birthday cake for a adorable 4 year old girl! The cakes were french vanilla with vanilla buttercream filling and icing in white and pink. The top tier was decorated with light pink, dark pink, and light green stripes, and the bottom tier was decorated with pink, white, and green polka dots. The base of each tier was finished off with fondant pearls in coordinating colors, and the top tier was completed with a pink satin bow. Daisies in yellow, white, pink, and green adorn the top and sides of the cake.

Swiss dots and white chocolate!

A wedding cake for a very small reception (I think only around 25 people came to the wedding). White chocolate cake with white chocolate buttercream filling and icing. The entire cake was covered in swiss dots, and then the whole look was finished with a cascade a variety of red silk flowers and leaves.

Sweet Sixteen Polka Dots and Pink Cuteness!

This cake was made for a "sweet sixteen" birthday party of the young woman who is actually pictured posing with her cake in the last picture.
The cakes were chocolate for the bottom and top tier, and french vanilla for the middle tier, all covered in plain buttercream icing. The polka dots and wavy stripes were made from black fondant, and the bottom of each tier was finished off with jelly beans coordinating with the colors of the rest of the cake.
The "sweet sixteen Briana" plaque was made out of white fondant with pink polka dot fondant accents around the edge. The "16" was also made from pink fondant with black and white fondant accents.
The cake was finished off with glittery pom-poms attached to sparkly pipe cleaners.
I hope you enjoy this cake, I think it turned out pretty darn cute.

Silly ladybug!

Chocolate cake with green vanilla frosting overall on the sheet cake. Green and yellow vanilla buttercream accents for the "Happy Birthday" message, the grass, and the vines and leaves.
The ladybug was scultptured from rice krispie treats draped in red and black fondant.

Devils food cake with vanilla buttercream filling and icing. The fences, sea grass, and birds on the top tier were free handed with food coloring. The pink, brown, and white seashells were made from seashell chocolate molds, and the palm tree and golden "50" were made from fondant.

Four tiered flowered beauty

A divided cake with white roses and greenery separating the tiers sitting on satiny fabric beds.
The bottom three tiers were white cake with strawberry filling and buttercream icing, each finished off with a row of buttercream pearls at the base of each cake. The top tier was white cake with buttercream filling and icing, with a lovely cake topper with white roses, freesia, and greenery.

Party Hats!

A trio of cakes made for 1 year old twin boys' birthday. All three were yellow cake with vanilla buttercream icing and decorations. The large cake was a sheet cake shaped into a party hat with the colors matching the party invitation. The two smaller "smash" cakes were adorned with the boys' names and smaller party hats in colors that coordinated with the party invitation and the larger cake.

Moose and Zee

Cake for a 1 year old baby girl's birthday. Both cakes are french vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream filling and icing details in various colors to represent "Moose and Zee", the baby's favorite characters on TV.
The character Moose is represented on a 1/4 sheet cake, and the character Zee is represented on the "smash" cake.

Stars and Stripes Forever!

This cake was made for a three girls who shared a birthday party. The top tier was Devil's food cake with vanilla filling and buttercream, and was covered in marshmallow fondant tinted purple.
The bottom tier was vanilla cake with strawberry filling and blue vanilla buttercream icing. The stars, stripes, and "polka dots" were all made from colored fondant.
The stars adorning the cakes were made from fondant and covered in edible sparkles and were attached to floral wire as they were drying. The bow on top to finish off the piece was made from ribbon, and the Happy Birthday and name plaques were made from paper.
I had a lot of fun with this one, I love making really girly cakes sometimes!

Yaarrr!! Pirate themed birthday cake

This cake was for an 8 year old's pirate themed birthday party. The cake was sculptured from yellow cake and chocolate buttercream icing. The details on the ship and water were made from plain buttercream icing. The railing of the top portion of the cake was made from strawberry twizzler pieces. The cannon, pirate, and treasure chest were made from hand molded fondant pieces, and the "sand" was made from crushed graham crackers. The sails were made from decorated pieces of paper and were attached to wooden dowels.

Thomas the Train Birthday Extravaganza!

A 3D Thomas the Train birthday cake for my nephew Layne's 3rd birthday. The cake was vanilla with buttercream filling and stars were piped on different portions of the cake. The face, wheels, number 1 on the sides, and the coal on the top were all pre-fabricated pieces that came in a kit.

Retro style wedding shower cake

I made this cake for a wedding shower. It was made to match the actual invitation to the event. Here is the invitation:

The cakes were "yellow" cake with vanilla buttercream filling and icing. Both cakes were covered with blue-ish colored marshmallow fondant and decorated with a band of red fondant at the base of each cake. Blue, green, and yellow circles fondant circles were placed all over the cakes, and the numbers and clockes were hand piped with some of the remaining vanilla fondant. I finished up with a star border on the bottom cake with some red colored vanilla icing, and a blue fondant rope on the top cake.

Bowling for cake!!

This was a cake that I made for my 7 year old twin nieces' birthday party. The party was at a bowling alley here in town and the party was bowling themed. Pink and purple are their favorite colors, so I tried to incorporate that into the cake, as well.

The cake was devil's food cake with vanilla icing. The bowling pins and bowling balls were made of marshmallow fondant.

A cake made for twin boys' birthday party. The cakes were french vanilla flavored and the filling and icing were vanilla buttercream in turquoise and light green to match the color theme of the party. The stripes and diamonds were made from marshmallow fondant. The monkeys were hand sculpted from plain fondant.

Elephant baby shower cake

Cake made for a baby shower. French vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream filling and icing and fondant with red and black fondant polka dots. Red ribbon and fondant elephant.

The red and black represented the new mother's love for the University of Georgia bulldogs, and the elephant represented the decor of the new baby's room.

Giant cupcake!

This was the groom's cake that went along with the "golden beauty" wedding cake (below) for a wedding on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008. The bride and I discussed the groom's interests in an attempt to come up with something really cute and creative for his cake. The final product incorporated the groom's love of cupcakes into their wedding celebration. The base of the cupcake was a three layer 10-inch round chocolate cake with milk chocolate filling and white chocolate buttercream icing. It was then covered white marshmallow fondant. The top of the cupcake was also a chocolate cake with milk chocolate filling and white chocolate icing. An additional layer of semi-sweet chocolate buttercream completed the finished look. Fondant "sprinkles" in green, blue, and yellow covered the top and the base of the cake. This cake will feed around 50 people and was so much fun to make!

Golden beauty

This golden beauty was made of french vanilla cake with lemon cream cheese buttercream filling and icing. Golden marshmallow fondant "pearls" surrounded the base of each tier and white roses completed the look. The tiers were 6, 10, and 14 inches.

Each cake tier and the edible fondant pearls were dusted with gold pearl dust to give them a luminescence that was beautiful in person, but was hard to capture on photograph. This cake will feed around 100 people.

Tropical birthday cake

I made this cake for a tropics themed birthday cake. The flavors were chocolate, vanilla, and lemon, all filled and iced with buttercream icing in blue, pink, and yellow. Pink, blue, green, and yellow colored fondant mosaic tiles decorated the top and bottom tiers.

The blue middle tier was decorated with matching blue swirls and custom made paper Hawaiian shirts. The top of the cake and sides were adorned with silk red hibiscus flowers.

Monkeys!!

Birthday cake for an 8 year old girl who LOVES monkeys!! The cake was french vanilla with vanilla buttercream in light blue and light green. The stripes and diamonds were made from colored fondant, as well as the adorably playful monkeys lounging on the sides and top of the cake. The banana embellishments were "Runts" candies.

16th birthday party cake

I made this cake for a young woman's 16th birthday. She drew me a preliminary sketch of what she wanted the cake to look like, with the polka dots and diagonal stripes and a red bow. The bottom tier was a chocolate cake, the middle tier a french vanilla cake, and the top tier was a lemon cake. The icing over the whole cake was buttercream.The stripes, polka dots, and twisted ropes at the bottom of the top and middle tiers were made from fondant. The bow on the top of the cake was made from red ribbon, and a few red silk daisies adored the top and sides of the cake.

Georgia "G" groom's cake

This is the groom's cake that accompanied the wedding cake (below) that I created for the March 8th, 2008 wedding.

The groom was graduating from the University of Georgia at the end of May, 2008.

The cake was devil's food with caramel and coconut filling. The outside of the cake was decorated with a chocolate buttercream icing and then a chocolate ganache was poured over the top and sides. The top was covered with toasted coconut and flanked with the University of Georgia "G" made from royal icing.

Cascading roses and hydrangeas

This cake was made for a wedding on March 8th, 2008. The cake was french vanilla with blueberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing. The outside of the cake was decorated with a scrollwork on the sides and a thin line of ribbon which had a border of green pearls at the base of each ribbon. The topper of the cake was custom made with three white roses surrounded by green and blue hydrangeas and pieces of ivy. The entire cake had a cascade of white roses, green and blue hydrangeas, and creeping ivy. I tried to get the ribbon and icing pearl colors as close to the color of the green hydrangeas as possible.

Sweet 16 Birthday Party Cake

I made this cake for a young woman's 16th birthday party. She requested the colors to be pink, green, and blue and the decorations to have polka dots, stripes, and swirls.

The bottom tier was a chocolate cake with vanilla filling and icing. The middle tier was french vanilla cake with vanilla filling and icing, and the top tier was french vanilla cake with blueberry filling and vanilla icing.

The polka dots and stripes were made from colored fondant, and the swirls were freehand.

Wedding cheesecakes

The bride and groom in this wedding both came to the conclusion that they just do not particularly like the taste of traditional wedding cake. Instead, they had a vision of serving delicious cheesecakes at their wedding reception.

The guest list for this wedding was around 90 people. These three cheesecakes were to be on display and cut by the bride and groom during the traditional "cake cutting".

I made 8 additional cheesecakes that were cut up and served by the caterer. Those were Reese's peanut butter and chocolate flavored. I didn't get any pictures of those cheesecakes because I swear I blinked and they had been devoured!

The display cheesecakes were Chai flavored. They had a very spicy, distinctive taste that the bride really enjoyed. The Chai cheesecakes were covered with a ginger flavored buttercream that complimented the Gingersnap crust of the cakes well and made them easily "decoratable".

I decorated the outsides of the cakes with a swirl pattern that the bride chose and garnished each cake with mint, roses and daisies that matched the bride's bouquet.

Beautiful 5-tier cake in blue with chocolate brown scrollwork

This is a wedding cake I for my sister, who got married on December 15th, 2007.

The cake was a white cake with white chocolate buttercream filling and icing colored blue to match the wedding colors. The scrollwork was done using milk chocolate buttercream. Each tier was divided by icing pearls.

The bride opted not to have a cake topper, instead, I made a large monogram on the top cake tier with the couple's new last name initial, M. The monogram matched the swirly scrollwork design of the rest of the cake.

The size of this cake was designed to feed 170 people, but the bride and groom kept the top tier to enjoy on their first anniversary.

I made this character cake for my nephew's second birthday party. The party's theme was "The Backyardigans", his favorite cartoon television show. The cake was a "funfetti" mix with a simple buttercream icing mixed in many different shades to accent Pablo's body.

Colorful gerber daisies adorn a gorgeous 5-tier wedding cake

This cake was made for a dear friend's wedding reception. The cake was french vanilla flavored with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream filling in alternating tiers. The outside of each tier was covered in vanilla buttercream icing. The base of each tier was adorned with icing pearls.

Colorful gerber daisies were placed in clusters all over the stacked cake. The finished cake sat on the front porch of the bride's parents house on a table and was surrounded by magical flowing tulle both on the table and flowing down from the ceiling above the cake. It truly was gorgeous!

Ivory Wedding cake

A wedding cake for my brother-in-law's step-sister. The cake was french vanilla with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing. The cake was decorated using swiss dots and accompanied by a pearl border at the bottom of each tier.

The daisies garnishing the cake were hand-picked by the bride to accent the color of roses in the wedding bouquets.

Dia de los Muertas Cake topper

This is an up close image of the wedding cake topper that was used for the coconut cake (below). I found this figurine at an import store and knew that it would be a cute shower gift for the bride. It is some sort of decoration for Dia de los Muertas, the Mexican Day of the Dead. When the bride received the gift, she immediately said that it had to go on top of the cake, which had previously been destined to have no topper.

Coconut cake with lemon curd filling

A wedding cake that I made for a dear friend who got married in St. Augustine, Florida. The little topper was a fun shower gift (above) that the bride decided to incorporate into the cake. This was the first cake I made that had to travel a very long distance from my house in Athens. The cake was a coconut flavored white cake with lemon curd filling and coconut buttercream icing. The outside of the entire cake was covered with toasted coconut flakes. It was delicious!

Hawaiian Tropics Cake

I made this cake for my Brother-in-law's Hawaiian themed birthday party. The whole cake was made from "funfetti" cake mix and was filled and iced with vanilla buttercream.

The "sand" on the top tier was made from crushed graham crackers and the little tiki hut was made from a small drinking cup I covered the outside of with peanut butter and attached pretzel sticks. An umbrella that would usually sit in a tropical drink made up the perfect topping to the tiki hut!

I bought two leis that fit perfectly on this cake, I believe the bottom one is a necklace and the top one is a headband. I made the monkey and guitar figurines out of colored fondant.

This is really one of my favorite cakes because of all the vibrant colors and funny monkeys. It always makes me happy to see it!

White chocolate and strawberries

I made this cake for a friend's birthday party. It was a yellow cake with white chocolate buttercream filling and icing.
The outside of the cake was decorated with white chocolate pieces that I made, as well as a white chocolate plate and pieces decorated the top.
I made a white chocolate plate for the chocolate covered strawberries to sit on. The chocolate covered strawberries were first dipped in milk chocolate and then drizzled with white chocolate.

Swirls and bees

This cake was made for a child's birthday party. The two tiers were made from chocolate cake and vanilla buttercream icing. The cake is decorated in purple swirls, royal icing daisies, and bumblebees made from fondant.

The bear on top was made from chocolate pound cake and vanilla buttercream piped on with a star tip.

Wilton bear baby shower cake

A baby shower cake. The white tiers were french vanilla cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing. The flowers were made from colored fondant. I made the border by adding three different icing colors to the same pastry bag, and piping rosettes where each layer met.

The bear on top was made of pound cake and decorated with a star tip in vanilla buttercream. The baby was to be a girl and the colors represented the colors in the her nursery.

A cake I made for a baby shower. The colors on the cake were the colors of the baby's room. The monogram included the baby's initials. French vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and fondant accents.

Mosaic Tile cake

A cake I made for an auction at church. Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream on the outside. I made the "mosaic tiles" decorating the outside of the cake out of white chocolate.

I melted the white chocolate and then colored it accordingly. I let it cool and then broke it in to pieces and pressed the pieces into place on the cake.
